CVN Range as per AWS D1.1 1998 Ed.vs 2010 Ed.

Hi Weldinguide folks,
I have a WPS developed in year 2000 where the reference used was AWS D1.1 - 1998. The test coupon used for the PQR was pipe 6" with thickness 14.5 mm on 6GR position including impact test (CVN test). I see from the WPS that when impact test is required the qualified thickness range is 7 mm to 22 mm and I am trying to figure it out how it is being done since in today's context the thickness range with CVN test would be 14.5 mm to unlimited and without CVN it would be 5 mm to unlimited.

I would like to have some valuable feedback in terms of the following:

1. What could the reason be to state the thickness range to be 7 mm to 22 mm?
2. If this WPS is submitted today, can the client reject it quoting that it does not comply to the latest edition of AWS D1.1?
3. Can I rewrite a new WPS using the old PQR coupon complying to the latest edition of AWS D1.1?
4. Where can I find the details on thickness range qualified with CVN test requirement in AWS D1.1 (1998 or 2000 edition)?

Would appreciate very much, if you could share your opinion with code reference.

Thanks in advance.

Dear Laurudolphy,

For our better understanding, could you please attach both the WPS and the PQR?

Thanks
