Sleeve welding as per API 1104

Postby Hollan Petersen » Fri Nov 15, 2013 4:32 pm

Dear forum members,
Could you please let me know if the sleeve thickness is considered an essential variable as per API 1104 and if so where can I find the relevant paragraph and the range of qualification since I have went through the code and I didn't find something relevant to that issue
thanks
Hollan

dear one,

Please refer to API 1104 appendix B.
For sleeve longitudinal welding (butt weld) and branch welding the range of wall thickness qualification shall be as per clause 5.4.2.5 (wall thickness groups are defined in clause 6.2.2 e). For sleeve to pipe fillet weld, the wall thickness is not an essential variable according to clause B.2.2.1.3 of Appendix B.
